Christmas is always a good time to test the strength and direction of the multichannel retail industry, and this year is no exception. In today’s Internet Retailing newsletter we focus on seasonal innovations, with the story of how pureplay Very.co.uk’s analysed its data to bring relevant offers from online to the high street, on record sales, with the latest figures from John Lewis, and on how well retail sites in general are bearing up in what’s proving a busy online season, with figures on web performance brought to us by Mark Gunn of Compuware Gomez. But 2012 has also been about international and multichannel strategies, and today we bring you timely updates on those two issues from three very different retailers. While Asos is fast expanding into an online-only global retailer, and Mobile Fun is following in its footsteps, Carpetright sells very little online, yet in its latest results it explains why digital is still an important part of its business.
