There are nine free workshops to attend at Internet Retailing ’09, and they’re an ideal opportunity to dip into a new area and learn something that you can take away and put to work in your own business.
Below you’ll find details of just three of the sessions, and you can find out more about them and the six others (and register to attend them) on the Internet Retailing 2009 website.
Strategies for Rich Media Merchandising Success
Rich media tools like 10CMS or Adobe Scene7 are popping up on sites everywhere. If you’re looking into going with a rich media solution this workshop will provide you with the data, the tools and the reference points with which to begin the process of evaluating and implementing rich media merchandising technology. It will open with an overview of the rich media merchandising opportunities and will be followed by a selection of case studies from leading brands and a business case overview from 10CMS’s James Brooke before attendees get the chance to quiz a panel of experts.

The Payments Opportunity in International e-Retail: How a Localised Payments Programme Can Help Merchants Increase Bottom Line Results
This workshop takes the form of a panel session, with three payments experts on hand to work through the best way to handle payments as you expand your site’s international reach. You’ll be able to quiz Netgiro’s Alison Greensmith (with more than 20 years in the payments industry, including stints at NatWest, Mondex and MasterCard), Paypal’s Jon Varco (former head of card not present at Visa Europe, and before that Jon worked in international acquiring at Barclays Merchant Services) and Barclaycard’s Chris Harris. This session promises to be an excellent way to get the inside track on international payments direct from people who’ve been around the block.

Personalisation in Marketing for Dramatic Returns
As online retailers try to make customers feel less like numbers and more like treasured friends for which we’d do anything, personalisation becomes increasingly important. In this session we’ll hear how a European high-end lifestyle brand is succeeding through personalisation and outline how to create persuasive and customised ‘conversation’, build comprehensive and useful customer profiles and, importantly, how to successfully personalise across mediums — from websites to email, call centres and display ads.
