InternetRetailing has published the first ever Growth 2000 UK report by RetailX.

The Growth 2000 performance index benchmarks the retailcraft of the largest 2000 retailers in the UK outside of IR’s existing Top500 index.

The unique index looks at these companies through the customer’s eyes, examining whether and how they are positioned to grow.

It measures them against the areas of Search, Mobile, Delivery, and Social. These retailers need to make themselves discoverable through search, close to the customer via mobile, efficient and flexible in their deliveries and engaged with their customers through social channels.

Some are brands selling direct-to-customer for the first time, others are niche or regional retailers with a strong appeal within their target demographics, while still others are international retailers looking to expand into the UK.

“I think this initial report is revealing,” says Ian Jindal, Editor-in-Chief of InternetRetailing. “While G2K retailers by definition lack the resources of larger retailers, the research highlights many examples of companies taking innovative approaches.

“In the months ahead, at InternetRetailing.net, and in our reports and white papers, we will highlight some of these companies and interrogate further what it is they’re doing well.”

The Growth 2000 index joins other unique RetailX reports such as the IRUK and IREU Top500, which deals with larger retailers.
