Ahead of InternetRetailing Expo (2017) and sister event eDelivery Expo we’re running a series of previews and interviews looking ahead to the event. Today the focus is on the From Clicks to Bricks Conference.

Speakers from retailers and brands from John Lewis, Sainsbury’s and Lululemon to Google and Volkwagen will be sharing their experience and insights of bridging the gap between online and the store at this year’s InternetRetailing Expo (IRX 2017).

All will be speaking in the From Clicks to Bricks Conference, where the emphasis is on the path from digital integration and omnichannel success and the technologies and strategies that can help retailers bring online and offline together, across multiple touchpoints.

The opening plenary address comes from Alan Wilzemann, vice president, digital product and guest experience at yoga brand Lululemon . Digital to drive global growth and customer satisfaction is at 9.30am.

The keynote presentation comes from a senior representative of department store group John Lewis who will be considering how high street businesses can make use the web and digital technology to attract more customers to their stores. Retail Renaissance: adapting to new and shifting customer demands to win on customer experience! is at 10.30am.

Fabrice Khullar, lead product owner at Sainsbury’s , and Joel Robinson, head of digital and technology strategy and planning at the supermarket then join share the stage to explain how Sainsbury’s is helping its staff to improve the customer experience, and the role that technology is playing in that. Designing and shaping engaging technology experiences for colleagues and customers is at 11.05am, and is followed by a sponsor case study before breaking for lunch.

Siobhan Fitzpatrick, ecommerce and marketing director at Maplin , is the speaker in a session on using mobile in store to link physical and digital shopping. She’ll be considering the potential of in-store mapping, loyalty programmes and personalised services in engaging and satisfying customers. Where physical and digital collide: achieving omnichannel integration is at 2pm.

Rebecca Ruddle, head of showrooms at Made.com and Ian Plummer, head of sales operations at Volkswagen UK, join a panel of omnichannel retailers that will debate the steps their brands are taking towards the store of the future, describing the physical space of the future, how mobile and digital technologies fit in and what role consumers will play in it. The omnichannel store of the future panel discussion is at 3pm.

Henry Eccles, head of UK commerce, global partnerships at Google , gives the closing keynote in the conference, with ideas on the use of in-store technologies to create inspirational shopping experiences. He’ll be covering ideas including the use of beacon technology and digital signage, rewards and push notifications and mobility and POS solutions to inspire, gain and serve customers. The From Clicks to Bricks Conference is one of eight conferences running at the InternetRetailing Expo, which runs from April 5 to 6 at the NEC in Birmingham. It will be held in Theatre 1 on April 5.
