Iwoot (iwantoneofthose.com) has signed up with Secon to use the Zeus Extensible Traffic Manager (ZXTM) from Zeus Technology to improve its ability to handle busy traffic periods.

“As part of an IT overhaul to upgrade infrastructure and move away from legacy hardware, Zeus’s ZXTM was chosen over hardware-bound solutions because, as software, it is more flexible, making it better suited for web-based, virtualised and cloud computing environments,” says the official announcement.

“In addition, Iwoot were impressed by the ease of deployment, ease of use and rich functionality and reporting. The retailer, which powers online shopping sites in the UK, Spain, Germany and Austria, now enjoys continual website uptime at a fraction of the price it once paid for a less reliable hardware-based solution. More detailed ‘back end’ reporting now enables Iwoot to make better marketing decisions based on customer shopping patterns and frees up time for continual IT improvements.”

Sagar Vadher, head of IT at Iwoot, comments, “When Secon first recommended Zeus’s ZXTM, I was not convinced that a software solution would meet our requirements. On a busy day, Iwoot processes 2,000 orders an hour and just a minute of downtime can cost the company dearly.”

“In previous years the festive holiday season was a stressful period as the entire IT team was completely focused on ensuring that website was always available to our users and customers and we were regularly required to work through the night,” Vadher explained. “However, I was quickly proven wrong when after just 24 hours of the implementation of the ZXTM we were able to remove a bottleneck we had previously found difficult to identify. As a result we saw an immediate surge in capacity and an increase of uptime to 100%.”

Rob Gupta, Secon’s MD, comments, “When we first spoke with Iwoot they had another solution in mind; however when we evaluated their requirements, through consultations and discussions, we recognised the Zeus solution would be a better fit. We prefer to work with our clients in this way because we can solve problems — rather than supplying point products.”
