NRF 2019: HP and Panasonic launch new logistics technology

DeliveryX

HP and Panasonic have launched new solutions at the National Retail Federation’s NRF 2019 trade show in New York to help logistics operators improve visibility of their supply chains.
Working with Digimarc, HP has introduced a serialised packaging offering which allows consumer brands to provide every printed object with a unique identity.

The Serialised Global Trade Item Number (SGTIN) can be used to trace and protect a package through the supply chain and at points of sale in retail environments. The solution is designed to combat counterfeiting and piracy.

Marvin Gross, Head of Emerging Solutions, HP Inc. Business Graphics Solutions, said: “With HP Link and Digimarc Barcode, consumer brands can protect their brand, track products from origin-to-destination, provide personalised content and coupons, and other benefits.

“Our solution can integrate with enterprise systems to manage inventory at the unique item level as well as enable faster and easier forms of checkout, including traditional, mobile and self-checkout.”

Also at the show, Panasonic introduced four integrated solutions focused on the supply chain. One, titled ‘Delivery Execution’, provides visibility and traceability over deliveries and includes software for rugged mobile computers to provide proof-of-delivery, while the ‘Rapid Application Development’ solution helps port legacy applications over to more modern operating systems.

The ‘Voice Picking’ solution allows workers to pick orders through voice recognition and offers barcode scanners on mobile computers, while ‘In-Store Execution’ providers workers in stores with real-time information and alerts.

Oracle announced at NRF 2019 this week that Matalan will use its inventory management solution.
