High end kitchen equipment retailer Lakeland is partnering with Barclaycard and Visa Europe to offer its customers contactless payments. From 30 June 2012, all 57 Lakeland stores will accept contactless card and mobile payments, allowing customers a faster and more convenient way to pay.

Richard Armstrong, head of UK payment acceptance at Barclaycard says: “Lakeland’s decision to introduce contactless is great news for a pioneer in home shopping. It’s fantastic to see a well known brand such as Lakeland recognising the benefit that contactless technology can bring to their customers and their business. With their day to day banking already with Barclays, we’re delighted to be able to partner with Lakeland again to provide their customers with more payment options.”

Barclaycard and Barclays have been the leading forces behind contactless in the UK. Since 2007, they have, together, issued over 15 million contactless debit and credit cards and put contactless terminals in more than 56,000 retail outlets.

Gary Marshall, Director of Operations at Lakeland, says of the partnership: “Like Barclaycard, Lakeland offers customers innovative products that make life easier, so working together made perfect sense. We have strong values of quality and customer care, as a result we’re committed to meeting our customers’ needs – from the items in our range to payments at the till.”
