Lidl rolls out one-hour delivery service across Italy

Lidl has teamed up with an online delivery service to offer one-hour delivery for groceries in several Italian cities.
The partnership with Supermercato24 will allow customers to receive shopping at their home at the same price as in-store. 4000 products are available through the service.

The new service is initially available at 10 stores in Rome, 11 stores in Milan and five in Verona. From this week it is also available in Bologna, Mantua, Forlì, Cesena, Modena, Pesaro Urbino, Ravenna and Rimini.

Through the Supermercato24 platform, the order is placed online and then fulfilled in the store by a personal shopper who then delivers the order. It is available seven days a week between 9AM and 11PM.

Federico Sargenti, CEO of Supermercato24, said: “In a constantly evolving context such as the current one, where the use of digital technologies is fundamental to the quality of life of people, we are proud of this honoured agreement to be the first player with a grocery marketplace model to forge a partnership with Lidl.

“We are sure that, thanks to this collaboration, we will improve our service and our offer, still growing more to provide existing and new customers with the advantages that have always distinguished our service: choice of sign, speed, comfort and home delivery. ”

Dutch grocer Albert Heijn recent partnered with Deliveroo to deliver hot meals in Amsterdam’s city centre.
