Conscious clothing brand Lucy & Yak has launched a buy-back scheme to keep clothes in circulation for longer, offering vouchers of up to £20 off future purchases with the brand when returning any pre-loved items to a Lucy & Yak store.
Launched this week, the Re:Yak Buyback scheme offers a new way for customers to return, recirculate and recycle their old Yaks in store by exchanging any pre-loved pieces in return for a voucher to spend online or in-store; Buyback items will be resold, or, if too damaged to resell, will be recycled so that they don’t end up in landfill.
Customers will be able to take their old Yaks into any Lucy & Yak store, including the newly-announced Nottingham store and recently opened Norwich store – both of which are ReYak hubs which host upcycling and repair workshops. These join a list of initiatives from Lucy & Yak to be as circular as possible, including regular (Im)perfect Yaks Sale, and a thriving Re:Yak Marketplace Facebook group.
Once a customer brings in their pre-loved Lucy & Yak item as part of the new Buyback scheme, in clean condition, they will receive a voucher of up to £20 depending on the item they bring in
Lucy Greenwood, co-founder of Lucy & Yak, says: “We’re always looking for new ways to be circular and ensure that our items are kept in use for as long as possible; we believe that brands should take responsibility for the lifecycle of their pieces even after they have been bought.
“We’re excited to be able to offer an easy way to give pre-loved Yaks a new life, or support customers to recycle them once they can’t be enjoyed anymore. Joining a talented network of Re:Yakkers who are already inspiring our customers to help their pieces live on for longer, our Buyback scheme brings the same ethos to our stores as the hub of our Lucy & Yak community.”
