Digital home lifestyle brand Made.com is expanding with a new 350,000 sq ft London Gateway distribution centre, more than doubling its capacity at the logistics park in Tilbury.
The extension will help support the company’s future growth, as well as reducing furniture delivery lead times for its customers.
The warehouse will be operated and staffed by Made, creating up to 100 new jobs in the process and will support Made’s data-led “just in time” supply chain, which is vertically integrated across all functions and processes, covering the entire product lifecycle from design development and sourcing through to global shipping, warehousing and home delivery.
Made’s current furniture warehouse at the Tilbury site measures 225,000 square feet, handles approximately 750,000 units per year and has an average SKU range of 2,300. The new warehouse, built specifically for Made, will be delivered in two phases, with the first phase completed this summer, and the second completed in April 2022.
Nicola Thompson, chief operating officer at Made.com, said: “Combined with our innovative ‘just in time’ supply chain model, this expansion of our warehousing facility in Tilbury is an exciting step towards achieving our long-term strategy to grow the business sustainably, as we continue to invest in operational efficiency and become the design destination for digital natives.”
