Online retailer Mobile Fun, which sells mobile phone accessories and ‘everything mobile’ says this Christmas was its best ever.

The company reported orders up by 28% over Christmas, while sales rose by 19% compared to the same time last year.

In the final quarter of 2010 the company, which has UK, German and French websites, took 99,817 orders. Of those 15.9% of orders came from its European websites, MobileFun.de and MobileFun.fr.

The company’s specialist websites GearZap.com, which specialises in iPad, netbook and laptop accessories, and GamingZap.com, which supplies pro-gaming accessories, contributed 5.5% of total orders. Sales rose 191% on last year.

Anthony Cook, founder and chairman, said: “The quarter’s record figures were delivered in spite of adverse weather conditions, which affected UK consumer confidence in online retailers during the run up to Christmas 2010. Management responded swiftly to the challenge through the use of tactical marketing activities to help combat the slow-down in sales. In addition, strong performance in October and November helped to offset the slight (2.2%) decline in UK orders in December 2010 compared to December 2009.”

In 2011, he said, the company was “excited about the prospect of new retail opportunities, including an eagerly anticipated new iPad model, higher specification smart phones and a host of new tablet devices. We are also on course to meet our European expansion plans and are in the process of adding new websites to our portfolio.”
