Shoppers are increasingly adopting smart technology to facilitate convenience of smart home. But, what are the top intelligent home techs that can help retailers satisfy consumers’ tech hunger?
According to a study conducted by Sellhousefast.uk and Eureka!, 43% of the polled UK shoppers now own at least one smart device in their home, and 43% of the same cohort are familiar with its benefits and features. The study surveyed 946 UK households attitudes towards a range of factors concerning smart home devices.
When it comes to the most desired home tech, 72% of the surveyed UK consumers say that video doorbells and security systems are "the most appealing," with 47% planning to purchase either one or both in the next two years.
The second place takes smart lights as 45% of the polled shoppers say that they want to install intelligent lights over the next two years, which they can wirelessly adjust the brightness and colour of as well as schedule.
This is closely followed by heating thermostats that learn homeowners behaviour (43%), smart taps that regulate water temperature and motion (22%), inbuilt speakers and LED shower heads (12%). The list closes with devices like programmable digital showers (11%), digital fridge with a camera (10%) and WIFI enabled buttons for instant orders that are at risk of running out (9%).
When considering what methods Brits would explore for getting advise on smart home technology, 42% of the polled UK shoppers say that the would directly contact an intelligent tech manufacturer like Nest and Hive. Whereas, 39% of customers say that the would use Google or other search engines to get more information on their smart device in comparison to 9% who are likely to ask recommendations on social media when seeking suitable smart tech for home.
“The growth of smart home technology over the last few years has been phenomenal. Despite Brits
being initially sceptical towards the technology, improved understanding and more affordable pricing has given smart devices greater appeal," says Robby Du Toit, managing director of Sellhousefast.uk.
"This research certainly shows that Brits are beginning to have a firm grasp of the smart technology they desire and would be willing to actively use in their home."
