Inclusive fashion and homeware retail group N Brown, which includes brands Jacamo, JD Williams and Simply Be, has taken a ten-year lease at a Manchester distribution park to maintain “an outstanding customer service proposition through supply chain operations”.
The 95,000ft² unit within Hareshill Distribution Park is located close to the major motorway networks north of Manchester, with easy access to the whole of the north west region as well as the Trans Pennine motorway network.
Ken Mellis, head of workplace, facilities and engineering at N Brown, said: “Our aim is to ensure that N Brown customers are provided an outstanding customer service proposition through our supply chain operations.
“Link95 meets our needs for the handling of our homeware product and, with unrivalled access to the motorway network in the north, as well as easy access to our head office in Manchester city centre and our main distribution site in Shaw.”
The Manchester-based retail group stores more than 1.5 million ft² of stock. It reports picking, packing and dispatching over 600,000 items every week.
At the start of the year, the group appointed Clare Empson – previously of Ted Baker – as the new director of supply chain. With a focus on the customer journey, Empson will be responsible for Operations, Distribution, Workplace, Engineering and Facilities, Health and Safety, Supply Chain MI, Solutions and Logistics Transformation.
For the 18 weeks to 06 January, the group reported a 9.3% decrease in revenue to £226mn but stressed improving product revenue trends especially in the group’s clothing, footwear and home businesses.
