Leading online marketplace, OnBuy.com, has formed a strategic partnership with delivery company Hermes that will provide eCommerce sellers with additional logistical solutions from the respected global carrier.
Since its launch in 2016, UK-based OnBuy has seen phenomenal year on year growth, amassing more than 7,000 merchants on the platform and over 36 million products. As the trend for online marketplaces continues to rise – seeing other brand giants moving into the space – this growth is set to continue, pushing OnBuy into new and exciting territory.
Paired with the results of its recent £35M Series A+ funding round, OnBuy has developed a roadmap of exciting new developments. With platform enhancements well underway and a series of recent specialist and senior hires, OnBuy has set its sights on global expansion, and as such has been working to create a cohesive infrastructure to support merchants and customers worldwide.
The new integration with Hermes will provide vendors on the platform with greater choice and convenience, enabling simple and secure shipping from a known and trusted service. Vendors can rest assured that their products will reach the customer on time, in safe hands and potentially at lower cost, while customers can shop in confidence that their products will be handled with the care that they deserve.
Not only will this partnership help OnBuy sellers grow in the UK but, through its strong international network, it will also be an essential vehicle for merchants’ growth as OnBuy expands into global markets over the coming years.
Mark Lister, CCO of OnBuy comments: “Working with a household name like Hermes will be pivotal as we continue to grow and lay down the gauntlet to the industry giants who currently dominate the field. Learnings from the last two years show that the sector will continue to grow, with demand increasing more than ever. At OnBuy it is vital that we can facilitate this demand with a seamless and trusted end to end service – which is made ever stronger with this partnership.”
Claire Phelan, Head of E-commerce Partnerships at Hermes UK, adds: “There has been significant upward trend in the volume of parcels entering the Hermes network from marketplaces such as OnBuy. The growth has been accelerated through the pandemic as a result of changing consumer shopping preferences and an increase in start-up businesses and merchants choosing to sell through marketplaces. We are making it easier, cheaper and more convenient for these businesses using marketplaces to access the Hermes services whilst helping them to save time and money.”
The partnership, effective now, marks another solid step for OnBuy’s ambitious plans to reach unicorn status in the coming years, with a roadmap of further company milestones yet to be announced. As the brand prepares to roll out in new markets, the international infrastructure offered by Hermes will be a development that will appeal to a host of new merchants with market growth in their sights.
