Fast-growing online hardwood furniture seller Oakfurnitureland.co.uk is upping the pace of its expansion to brick-and-mortar stores with the opening of its second showroom in six months.

The company, placed at number 34 in last month’s Sunday Times Fast Track 100, has grown online since it was founded in 2004 to a £17.1m turnover in 2009. Sales have increased by some 85% a year.

The company bills itself as the UK’s largest online retailer of hardwood-only furniture. It designs and manufactures in-house, delivering direct to the customer.

Now it is moving forwards with a fast-paced store-opening programme which, says owner Jason Bannister, will give customers the chance to see goods for themselves before buying.

Its second showroom, a 12,000 sq ft site at Stockport’s Peel Centre, opens on Saturday, six months after it added a showroom in Cheltenham to its Chester site. After recently acquiring the brand and intellectual property rights to Right Price Furniture it expects to open a store a month in 2011.

“Although we proudly offer free delivery nationwide with a seven day no-quibble refund guarantee, many customers still like to come and see the high quality of our furniture first-hand,” said Bannister.

“Stockport represents part of our rapid showroom expansion plan across the UK and we’re delighted to be extending our reach into new regions.

“We’re looking forward to providing a quality service to our customers, selling premium-grade furniture at incredibly affordable prices.”
