Germans reluctant to use credit card for online shopping

In e-commerce, three out of four payments are transacted via credit card, but in Germany only 44% of online shoppers use a card. The rest prefer offline transaction methods like invoice (30%) or bank account charge (23%).The figures were published in the new "E-Retail-Report 2009 – Kauf- und Zahlverhalten im Online-Warenhandel", published by Deutsche Card Services, a branch of Deutsche Bank.

Credit card transactions have shown to be very reliable: 91% of cc transactions in Germany were successful. Most common reasons for rejection were the authorizing system (58%) or the invalidity / expiration of the card (13%). Chargebacks occurred in only 0,24% of transactions, due to higher security
