Retailers could be among those rushing to register two-character domain names now available to buy.
A number of the snappy domain names ending in uk.com are now up for sale through leading British registrars.
UK.com expects there to be a surge of interest from companies looking to find short domain names – because they are more memorable. Retailers are likely to be among those looking for the names. Those available include ok.uk.com, do.uk.com, hi.uk.com, so.uk.com and go.uk.com. They can be registered from registrars including 123 Reg and Global Gold.
Ben Crawford, chief executive of UK.com’s parent company CentralNic, said: “Many companies are now seeking short domain names as they are so simple to remember and easy to key into mobile devices. Two character UK.com domains are the ideal solution to getting your company the most memorable web address in Britain.”
UK.com domains were launched 15 years ago.
