Powa Technologies continues its ‘closing of the circle’ in mobile retail with the formation of a partnership with Teller, a leading payments acquirer in the Nordics, which will bring Powa’s mobile payment services to Teller’s client base of 94,000 retailers and brands operating in more than 20 European countries.
The breakthrough deal is designed to utilise Powa technologies’ portfolio of services – including the PowaTag mobile payment system – to, in Powa’s words, “transform the shopping experience for the customers of Teller’s merchants in the fast changing, multi-channel retail environment”. PowaTag enables shoppers to complete purchases anytime, anywhere simply by scanning tags from their mobiles. It offers merchants a new way to reach and interact with their customers.
The deal comes hot on the heels of its acquiring MPayMe, the parent company of mobile payment solution ZNAP.
Powa was selected by Teller as partner for its rapidly growing reputation as an emerging market leader in mobile payments, retail and e-commerce solutions. More than 500 global brands including Electrolux, Carrefour and Universal Music have adopted its technology solutions to improve customer engagement. Powa attracted international attention when it received a world record $96.7 million in a Series A funding round, in recognition of its potential to become a dominant force in the mobile payment solutions sector.
Dan Wagner, CEO and founder of Powa Technologies, says: “This partnership establishes further, Powa’s growing reputation as an emerging market leader that’s transforming the way people shop in a multi-channel environment. We are providing new capabilities for many of the world’s largest retailers and brands with our technologies, so it is important for us to work with a trusted and secure payment market leader across the region.
“Our solutions will enhance value and help thousands of merchants to leverage multiple channels, so they can generate more sales and better engage with shoppers, at a time when there is growing market pressures from customers wanting greater levels of control, freedom of access and choice on how they purchase goods,” he continues.
“Powa offers our partners a simple, robust suite of commerce solutions that are fully customisable and with which they can start tapping into growing areas of new business online, in-store and anywhere in between.”
PowaTag is being described by many industry experts as a game changer; by combining capabilities, which include instant mobile commerce and Bluetooth geo-location, it allows customers to make payments with a click of their smartphones, via printed tags, press, billboards and even TV and radio broadcasts.
Dorthe Glenhøj, Business Development Director in Teller, adds: “The PowaTag solution will simplify consumers buying process. This partnership will allow us to grow our value proposition for merchants, providing them with cutting edge payment systems to better engage with their customers and continue to position Teller as the number one preferred acquirer in the Nordic countries.”
