Ringing the changes as shoppers and retailers adapt their multichannel strategies

In today’s InternetRetailing newsletter, we’re looking at some of the changes that are affecting both the way that we buy, and the way that we sell.

We’re looking at how Brexit affected shopping habits in the immediate aftermath of the EU referendum, as measured by ONS figures, and we’re looking at how Asda is moving forward with its strategy in a changing sales environment, and as its like-for-like sales fall.

We’re also reporting as Amazon extends its range still further (from a stock that already includes 1.5m items in the UK) and builds the fulfillment centres it needs to manage that, and we have news of the effect that omnichannel-driven growth at Screwfix is having on its parent company’s sales.

But amidst all the change some things still say the same: more than half of smartphone users still use stores to research purchases, despite the growth of mobile shopping, according to a new xAd study.

Finally, today’s guest comment comes from Richard Salters of HSO, who discusses how and why retailers should be marketing to a consumer of one.
