In a bold move, retailer River Island has become one of the first retailers to develop a transactional version of its app for the Amazon-owned Kindle platform. It joins Debenhams , Lidl and ASDA on the platform.

The new Kindle app allows users to shop the entire River Island product range on the go, view trends and check in at local stores at the touch of a button. Users can share purchases via social media and check stock at their nearest store to avoid disappointment.

“The launch of the app on Kindle offers our customers yet another device for shopping online,” explains Seveena Burgess, Site Experience Manager at River Island, of the company’s plans to target as many platforms as possible as user demand dictates.

“The success of River Island’s existing iPhone, Android, iPad, Blackberry apps has emphasized not only that customers find the app-based shopping experience far more immersive and satisfying than traditional websites, but that consumers are increasingly interested in a seamless experience across a range of devices,” adds Jonathan Heap, CTO at NN4M, the company that developed the app for the retailer.

River Island already offers high-performing iPhone, Android, iPad and Blackberry apps, which have collectively achieved more than 3,600,000 unique device downloads.
