Russell & Bromley has launched its first ecommerce website.

The British shoe retailer has developed the site in response to the demands of customers who were visiting its information-only site and asking where they could buy online. Now it has launched its transactional site, built on the Venda platform, ahead of Christmas. The site complements the retailer’s estate of more than 40 shops around the UK, including a New Bond Street, London, flagship store.

“Our goal,” said Brendan Regan, head of marketing at Russell & Bromley, “is for the online part of the business to become our best-selling store. The Venda platform will help us to achieve this as it offers a pioneering ecommerce solution that has the flexibility and ability to grow and scale quickly.”

The retailer will be able to gather customer data, including wish lists, transaction records and customer details, through the site and use it to personalise the shopping experience for its customers through recommendations and targeted offers.

Eric Abensur, Venda group chief executive, said: “It’s great to see our platform being used to support new strategies across highly respected high street retailers such as Russell & Bromley. Ecommerce is rapidly moving from a supplementary element to a central tenant of any brand’s retail strategy. An online presence has the power to augment and add value to every part of a multi-channel retail strategy, with better data and a consistent and powerful platform for brand story-telling.”
