The latest Affiliate Window benchmark of mobile sales and ad conversions finds that sales through mobile devices rose steadily between June and July, with 24,000 sales each day in July coming from mobile devices, 8800 of them via smartphone.
According to the monthly benchmark, 36.05% of traffic originated from a mobile device – up from 35.58% in June, with 18.10% of traffic came from a smartphone – up from 18% in June. 30.68% of sales originated from a mobile device – down from 30.86% in June, 11.39% of sales came from a smartphone – up from 11.15% in June.
Mobile traffic converted at 4.06% – down from 4.25% in June and Mobile Average Order Value (AOV) was £67.46 – down from £67.98 in June.
Android smartphones accounted for 26.45% of smartphone traffic and 26.10% of sales and Android tablets accounted for 30.10% of tablet traffic but only 17.79% of sales.
Tablet devices converted at 5.86% while smartphones dragged down the overall mobile conversion rate – converting at 3%, with iPad typically converting at 3 percentage points above Android tablets. iPad users not only convert at a much higher rate than their Android counterparts, but also spend significantly more when they do.
