Sunday service to unlock the Christmas box: DPD

Parcel delivery company DPD is to reprise its Sunday delivery service, which led to the creation of more than 500 new jobs when it was trialled in July of this year.
sunday-deliveryDPD is offering one hour timeslot deliveries, real-time communications between drivers and the extended, nationwide Sunday service over the Christmas period.

Dwain McDonald, DPD’s CEO, said: “Sunday deliveries have been a big hit with our customers and with the general public. As a result, we are expanding the service as part of our Christmas planning. Opening up our network on a Sunday originally created 500 new jobs up and down the country. The reality is, that figure is going to be closer to 1,000.”

Over the last two years, the company has opened 18 new or replacement depots including nine state-of-the-art, purpose built facilities, and is building a £100m parcel hub at Hinckley in the East Midlands, due to be completed in 2015.
