Supergroup today said online sales at its Superdry retail brand rose by 39.5% in the last year.

The update came as the Cheltenham-based fashion company said group revenues reached £484.7m in the year to April 25, 12.5% up on the same time last year, with retail sales 16.7% ahead at £332.8m. Like-for-like sales were up by 4.8%.

In the final quarter of the year, the 15 weeks to the same date, group revenues were 18.4% up at £134.8m, while retail sales were 20.6% ahead, at £76m, with like-for-likes up by 11.6%.

The growth, said the company, came both from new retail space and from online. “A strong pipeline of new stores in our targeted European markets, ecommerce momentum, the acquisition to take control of our brand in North America and the opportunity to increase awareness through our global collaboration with Idris Elba provide confidence for continued growth,” said chief executive Euan Sutherland.

He said Supergroup’s focus and investment would continue to be on creating a global lifestyle brand by expanding the Superdry brand and benefitting from retail growth opportunities.
