Tesco reopens talks after threatened strikes

Tesco has agreed to reopen talks with Usdaw members after staff in nine distribution centres voted for a pre-Christmas strike over pay.
The strike action is scheduled to begin on December 20 and end on Christmas Eve. Staff had rejected a 4% annual pay rise originally and Usdaw is hoping that the retailer will improve the offer to avoid pre-Christmas disruption.

Distribution staff are also unhappy at Asda, with the GMB union launching a consultative ballot which is due to close on December 20 over the grocer’s choice not to give distribution staff a “meaningful” pay offer.
