The Body Shop, Lucy & Yak and Sainsburys named Net Zero Pioneers in new report

Lucy & Yak, The Body Shop, Toast Ale, Notpla and Sainsburys are among the retail businesses leading the charge towards net zero, according a new report Net Zero Pioneers by BusinessGreen.

The report aims to showcase the UK’s most innovative and impactful businesses working on the UK’s net zero transition, profiling the myriad ways in which they are working to turbocharge decarbonisation efforts in every corner of the economy.

Within the retail and consumer goods section Lucy & Yak, The Body Shop and Sainsburys are celebrated.

As is Notpla, the packaging firm that aims to be a solution for the plastic crisis with its sustainably farmed seaweed. From a dissolvable, edible ‘bubble’ which holds liquids to seaweed-based film and paper, all the company’s packaging products are made out of plants – and all are biodegradable. The company has secured VC-backing to the tune of £16m and won the Prince of Wales’ Earthshot Prize, which awards £1m to winners.

Within the transport section of the Net Zero Pioneers report, e-cargo bike delivery network Zedify has also been championed. The Cambridge-based firm has an extensive fleet of electric cargo bikes, trikes, and quads carrying out thousands of zero emission deliveries for businesses and individuals each day.
