As the second UK lockdown forces non-essential stores to close, IKEA UK is hoping to fill the gap IKEA through a range of online, Click & Collect and home delivery services.

Ramping up its digital strategy and aiming to leverage its store footprint as best it can with the doors shut to customers, the retailer is introducing a range of measures it has developed and refined off the back of shopping habits in the previous lockdown before the summer.

Included in the new trading offerings are an all-new ‘Contactless Click & Collect’ service available at all stores in England and free for purchases over £300. The company is also introducing a new ‘Click & Deliver’ to DPD pick up points across the country, from £2. It is also adding home delivery for £4 and up and a takeaway service for its Swedish Food Market.

The retailer is also offering complementary remote kitchen, wardrobe and living room storage planning appointments via its website.

All in-home services remain in operation as usual. These include ‘room of choice’ delivery, Task Rabbit assembly and kitchen measuring and installation services. The health and safety of our customers and co-workers have been our primary concern since the start of the pandemic and we closely follow the‘Working Safely in Other People’s Homes’ guidance.

Peter Jelkeby, Country Retail Manager and Chief Sustainability Officer, explains: “COVID has forced all of us to adapt and adjust in extraordinary circumstances. Since the first lockdown we have put all our efforts into keeping our customers and co-workers safe and enabling our customers to continue to shop with us in new and convenient ways, including our Click & Collect and delivery services. Once again, we want to thank all our customers for their support and our co-workers for their amazing agility and togetherness. We look forward to continuing to support customers through our digital channels and welcoming everyone back into our stores soon.”
