UPS targets SME sellers with ecommerce fulfilment service

DeliveryX

Delivery company UPS is hoping to attract SME sellers with an ecommerce platform which allows them to manage their listings across different marketplaces.
UPS eFulfillment will allow businesses selling from marketplaces to consumers in the US and Canada to manage their sales across a number of online marketplaces such as Amazon and eBay.

Merchants will be able to use a single login to manage their listings across different platforms, as well as handle shipping and logistics. It includes tracking and billing management.

UPS will store merchandise for sellers, as well as allow them to manage stock stored elsewhere through the platform.

The company first piloted the programme back in 2017 with Tidal New York, a footwear seller.

Kevin Warren, UPS’s chief marketing officer, said the programme aims to provide SMEs with services comparable to those of a larger retailer with less complexity.

“We are laser-focused on giving merchants the tools for success by offering this easy-to-use technology platform, full-service fulfillment capabilities and simplified pricing and billing that many smaller business couldn’t afford to offer or build.”

Tidal New York co-founder Tim Gibb said: “To be able to sell across multiple stores and marketplaces is insanely attractive. The ability to focus on growth instead of managing our infrastructure allows us to pursue business that we wouldn’t otherwise have had the bandwidth to go after.”

In February UPS claimed nearly 80% of packages will be going through facilities using automation by the end of 2019.
