Vente-Privée has launched a new app as it looks to increase the percentage of its sales that come via mobile devices.
Currently, says the flash sales company, 45% of its UK sales are made via mobile devices such as smartphones and tablet computers. Now it aims to increase that proportion at a time when more consumers are using mobile to browse and buy online, as shown by IMRG figures out today.
The new app, developed in-house, replaces one that has now been downloaded more than 6m times. New features include multichannel ones that link the mobile and digital experience with the physical world.
A GPS navigation system, for example, points customers towards their nearest collection point for picking up deliveries, while a button allows them to call or email customer services direct.
Shoppers can also sign up for sale alerts to their mobile when a brand they’re interested in becomes available.
The launch of the new app was supported by a marketing campaign featuring a mobile alert showing a video of a sun becoming eclipsed by the moon. Customers shake their mobile device from side to side to make the sun reappear, deleting the old app before being invited to access the new one.
