WAE+ says it is on target to hit sales of £9m in only its second year of trading after turning in sales of £4.48m in the first half of its financial year.

The Birmingham-based pureplay sells goods from consumers electronics to office supplies and wholesale food and drink. It turned over £1.65m in its first year.

So far this year it has grown its workforce from 16 to 26, and moved to a new distribution centre which includes a 15,000 sq ft on-site warehouse in order to house a range that now stands at 125,000 products. The company expects to grow its employee numbers by 50% over the next two years.

Recent improvements to the website include enhanced search and the reorganization into online ‘departments’ for easier browsing.

Ben Slater, operations director at WAE+, said: “We are delighted to report a successful first half-year with sales and profits on the increase. WAE+ now has to establish the next stage of growth, supported by our recent move to larger premises. We are looking forward to adding more lines, including health and beauty products, while expanding our existing ranges.”
