Dobbies Garden Centres has chosen Snow Valley to deliver its next generation web platform. The new ecommerce solution is part of an overall business growth plan for Dobbies, which was acquired by Tesco in 2008. The retailer currently offers garden and home products through 24 UK stores and at its www.dobbies.com website.

Snow Valley will be providing a new online store, based on their Muse2 platform, that will support the expansion of Dobbies’ social media strategy, initially through blogging, forums, and the use of social networking sites such as Facebook and MySpace. The design of the new website will be provided by Snow Valley’s user experience team.

The site will be fully integrated with Dobbies’ line-of-business systems, which include Microsoft Dynamics NAV and BT Expedite’s Mercatus. The solution will give marketers and merchandisers direct control of their products, promotions and reporting and allow Dobbies’ staff to deliver improved customer care.

“As the credit crunch continues to have an impact, it’s important that we work even harder to anticipate our customers’ needs and invest in leading technologies to continuously improve the online shopping experience,” says Joel Rendle, head of ecommerce at Dobbies.com. “We’ve got our sights set on becoming the UK’s leading online gardening retailer and Snow Valley has the expertise and the platform to help us get there.”
