In response to increasing online demand, John Lewis has introduced a selection of menswear brands – such as Boss Tailoring and Charles Tyrwhit – to its rental offering.
This builds on an existing partnership with rental technology firm Hurr, which helped John Lewis launch its womenswear rental in 2022. The collaboration has seen a 52% year-on-year increase in members. The department store has also witnesses a jump in searches for ‘Mens Rental’, it appeared in the top 30 search terms on its website over the past 18 months.
“We’re unique on the high street to be able to offer the widest range of multiple brands to rent from everyday suits to more premium brands and styles” explained Kathleen Mitchell, John Lewis’ commercial director.
“A perfect solution for a last minute dinner party or day at the races. This is just the beginning of menswear rental and we’re really excited to see it grow.”
The menswear rental will sit alongside womenswear, as part of the existing Hurr fashion rental partnership. Rental prices start from £40 for a four day rental, with options to extend to either eight, 16 or 30 days.
Victoria Prew, Hurr CEO, added: “As a category, menswear is very much undiscovered in rental and this is a unique opportunity for us with incredible potential to shift consumer behaviour towards smarter fashion choices.”
