Lululemon is set to open its first physical store in Austria, in partnership with Arion Retail Group. The store on Kärntner Straße will open on 4 September 2026, alongside a programme of promotional events including curated in-store experiences and gifts for the shop’s first visitors.

The sports retailer is also opening a store in New Delhi, India, this autumn as part of its franchise agreement with Tata CLiQ.

The new stores form a key part of Canadian-headquartered Lululemon’s growth strategy. The company has grown rapidly from a niche, premium yoga-wear brand to a global sportswear giant. Operating an almost entirely DTC model, it has approximately 476 stores in North America (379 in the United States, 71 in Canada, and 26 in Mexico), and approximately 340 stores outside North America.

Declining domestic growth

With growth declining in North America – sales slumped by 3.1% in Q1 2026 – the company sees strong opportunity overseas. The arrival of Lululemon store locations and digital offerings in India and Austria follows the company’s earlier entry this year into Poland, Greece, Hungary, and Romania through its franchise partnership model.

The openings reflect Lululemon’s confidence that premium activewear still has room to grow in underpenetrated markets, despite trading conditions becoming more challenging closer to home.
