A mobile first bank, designed around making the most of smartphone features has gained its banking licence and is expected to go live later this summer.
Atom Bank is developing a range of personal and business banking products and services, delivered through an app experience designed for mobile devices – with desktop to follow at a later date.
Atom’s app aims to set new standards for the banking sector and will bring pioneering technology to Europe for the first time. Atom will be leading the way in delivering the ultimate easy and convenient banking experience. Biometric security and end-to-end in-app account opening are just some of the features being developed to deliver a branch-free, paper-free and stress-free bank.
The app will deliver innovative and engaging ways of controlling and managing money. It exploits the capabilities of the Unity gaming platform and incorporates an imaginative and engaging 3D interactive experience. Atom is tapping into the North East’s expertise in software development to help deliver their app, along with partnerships from across the UK and beyond.
Commenting on getting the licence, CEO Mark Mullen said: “We’ve set about designing a banking app that’s in tune with how people think about their money. Taking an app-based approach allows us to use all the features of your mobile device to provide a slick and highly personalised experience. It will offer total control and transparency with a depth that is beyond anything else on offer in the market today.”
Atom’s app will be optimised for mobile and tablet, supporting the platforms and operating systems you’d expect for a digitally savvy audience. On hand to help, Atom’s customer service team will provide support and technical expertise to customers all-day and everyday, by phone, chat, email and through social media.
