To mark the launch of 4G services in London, O2 is to host a multi-platform gig, which will be live-streamed across London on 29 August. The award-winning and London-born artist, Plan B, will perform at the O2 4G London gig, playing an exclusive set at the iconic London music venue, O2 Shepherd’s Bush Empire.

In a first for the UK, O2 will stream its launch gig live to three central London digital media locations; Kings Cross Station, Victoria Station and The Wall at Westfield Shepherd’s Bush.

Throughout the day, O2 4G Angels will be demoing 4G at each of the three locations, bringing to life brilliant entertainment on the move at a local level. Buskers will play songs on demand at specially constructed O2 4G stages, responding to #O24G Twitter requests. Central London O2 stores will celebrate the 4G launch throughout the day, with treats for customers and exclusive Plan B content broadcast in store. Selected stores will open late to coincide with the live gig.

Plan B will perform at 8pm to an audience of 2,000 people at O2 Shepherd’s Bush Empire and crowds at the live streamed locations. Audiences at Kings Cross and Victoria Stations will be given O2 headphones to enjoy the gig as a live-streamed silent disco.

For those not in London, the gig will be hosted live on YouTube via O2 Academy TV. It will also be available to watch across O2’s social media channels, including Twitter, Facebook and on www.o2.co.uk.

O2 is working with Wayra start-up, Eventstagram, to display the images taken from the gig-goers on screens across London, including throughout O2 Shepherd’s Bush Empire. O2 has also teamed up with Soundhalo, the HD live music video download platform, to film and record the live show and to make a track from the gig immediately available via Priority Moments – free for O2 customers.

O2 customers can get tickets 48 hours before general release from 9.00am Wednesday 21st August by visiting o2priority.co.uk. Tickets are available for the general public from 9.00am on Friday 23rd August. At the gig itself, O2 will be bringing 4G to life through bespoke queue entertainment and lightning-fast 4G cocktail bars.

Ahead of his set on 29th August, local London artist, Plan B said: “I’m looking forward to playing at O2 Shepherd’s Bush Empire. I first played there in 2007 and this unique gig promises to be even bigger and better.”

Shadi Halliwell, O2’s Head of Brand commented: “We want to inspire customers by showcasing the exciting possibilities provided by 4G, and what better way to do this than by live streaming an exclusive gig across London. By bringing to life brilliant entertainment on the move, we hope to encourage customers to explore technology and to live more, do more and be more with O2.”

Liza Boston, CEO and founder of Soundhalo, said: “We are excited to partner with O2 to launch 4G in the UK and deliver an experience that was unthinkable 12 months ago. Soundhalo delivers high quality audio and video files straight from the stage, one song at a time, to your smartphone, wherever you are, in the blink of an eye. 4G gives music fans quicker access to incredible content from the world’s most exciting artists. Bring it on.”
