Almost half a million evening deliveries made via On the dot

CitySprint says it has now made almost half a million evening deliveries for the 22 retailers that are  signed up to its On the dot service.

National retailers including Missguided, FootAsylum and John Lewis & Partner are all using the service, which promises seven day a week deliveries between 6pm and 10pm for those who order before midnight on the previous day. Same-day deliveries are also available.

So far about 4,000 items have been delivered a day, with almost 500,000 since the service was launched.

Karl Harwood, head of distribution, supply chain, at fast fashion retailer Missguided, said: “Today only shoppers expect their goods to be delivered quickly and with the best possible service. If you don’t get this right, consumers will simply look at other options available and go elsewhere. As a business operating in a very competitive marketplace, there is no room for error.”

He said the retailer was now working to extend the reach of its same-day offering with the supplier.

Darren Taylor, business solutions director at CitySprint, said: “Our goal is to provide the best possible delivery experience to our customers — from start to finish. Retailers today need to put convenience at the heart of everything they do and provide a delivery service that can adapt to the customer and be integrated into their everyday life. Our new evening delivery service is a big hit as it can help our customers do just that. Uniquely underpinned by ten years of data, our service can help retailers further enhance their customer experience — boosting them ahead of the competition by using delivery as an important differentiator to drive sales and growth.”

The service is integrated with Scurri, GFS and MetaPack courier management software.

Barclaycard partners with BigCommerce on website payments

Barclaycard has struck a deal that will see its payments technology integrated into the BigCommerce platform. That means that merchants will be able to set up their payment systems faster for new markets including Europe, where Barclaycard is already a market leader. Future developments could see BigCommerce also integrate Barclaycard fraud detection and security services, alongside products such as strong customer authentication.

Nicole Olbe, managing director of partnerships at Barclaycard, said: “Customer experience is critical for all online retailers, and that’s why so many sellers turn to BigCommerce. Our partnership will ensure that merchants can deliver the seamless shopping and payments experience their customers demand, safe in the knowledge they can receive support from BigCommerce and Barclaycard every step of the way. We’re thrilled to be bringing a more streamlined service to so many ecommerce businesses, helping them to continue to grow.”

Mark Adams, general director, BigCommerce Europe, said: “Trust, particularly during the payment process, is an integral part of the relationship between merchant and consumer. Our job as an ecommerce platform is to not only provide merchants the tools necessary to build and scale a successful business, but to do so in a way that further cements that critical brand trust. By partnering with Barclaycard, one of the most reputable payments companies in the world, BigCommerce is helping to ensure a more secure online transaction, giving merchants and their consumers an added level of confidence in the ecommerce process.”
