A new website – shoppingslot.co.uk – has been launched to try and help shoppers find those elusive grocery delivery slots in their area, for a fee.

Shoppingslot.co.uk has been launched by software engineer Jason Moore and one-time Apprentice candidate Sabrina Stoker and aims to let shoppers search once on its site for grocery chains with delivery slots in their area when they come free – and, for a £3 subscription fee, be emailed when one appears.

The site aggregates grocery delivery slots from Tesco, Asda, Iceland and Waitros and effectively trawls them, saving shoppers from having to spend all night in a queue or refreshing their apps and browser to try and nail one.

The site came about from Moore’s increasing frustration – shared by millions of us – in trying to get hold of a delivery slot.

“I was spending hours online trying to reserve spaces, so I designed a website which automated the process,” he explains. “Initially, this was for my family and friends, but I thought it would be nationally beneficial for those elderly, vulnerable and isolating.”

Stoker, an early fan, is now helping promote the site. “‘My grandparents couldn’t leave the house and my family are isolating so we couldn’t deliver her food shop this week,” she says. “Using Shopping Slot, I was able to book her a next day delivery slot from Iceland and was so grateful. I want Shopping Slot to become a national brand to help others in need.”

The site is in beta and is connected to major supermarkets, but is aiming to also add in local stores that are also offering delivery. It is also in the process of raising £50,000 to try and make its service free to the elderly and vulnerable.
