TUI Travel puts holiday planning in the palm of the hand with app launch

As thoughts turn to summer holidays, TUI Travel , owner of Thomson , is going mobile, offering an app to its customers that can take them through from choosing a holiday, to getting to the airport and even how to find their hotel once they arrive.

The MyThomson app is also being treated as the blue print for all of the apps to be rolled out across all of TUI Travel’s 240 other travel brands across Europe.

Included in the app is flight information – from check-in times to luggage allowances – maps to help customers get to and from the airport at either end of their journey, top 10 things to see guides, weather updates and even links to Facebook and Twitter to keep in touch with friends and family while away.

The launch of the mobile app comes as TUI Travel launches a revamp of its high street stores to make them more digital. The company is looking to use technology – and coffee – to attract people into its high street stores and aims to use mobile, table top and PC technology to digitize the high street shop experience.
