Irish shoppers can now return their goods to UK retailers via collection point service CollectPlus for the first time.

CollectPlus has teamed up with Irish lockerbank service Parcel Motel to offer the new service. Littlewoodsireland.ie is the first retailer to sign up to it. The retailer, part of Shop Direct, has a UK fulfillment centre and its customers can now send unwanted online orders back to the UK by dropping them off at a Parcel Motel locker.

Geoff Scully, managing director at Littlewoodsireland.ie, said: “We’re delighted to offer our customers a more convenient and cost-effective way to return any unwanted purchases by working with CollectPlus and Parcel Motel. As a retailer with a rapidly growing customer base, we strive to find ways to continually improve the customer experience and this partnership does exactly that.”

John Tuohy, chief executive of the Nightline Group, which operates the Parcel Motel, said: “The handling of returns is an essential part of the ecommerce process. Previously, though, consumers will have had to take items to their local post office. However this new system is simpler and if anything makes the business of buying online even easier than before.”

Neil Ashworth, chief executive of CollectPlus, said: “This new international returns service is something we intend to offer to all our UK clients who trade in the Irish Republic as it is flexible enough to accommodate any returns strategy.”
