Give Back Box, an organisation that enables retailers to send returning items to charity, has partnered with ZigZag to enable customers to choose Give Back Box as a return option in a process that can take less than a minute to complete.
According to WRAP, around 9 million tonnes of clothing end up in US landfills and 330,000 tonnes in UK landfills every year. This option will be available for retailers that meet the criteria to enable charity donations and means they will be returned straight to charity.
Al Gerrie, co-founder and CEO of ZigZag Global, said: “As a founder member of the Ellen MacArthur Foundation, we are always looking for ways to enrich our corporate and social responsibility and sustainability offerings. Give Back Box will enable ZigZag retailers to support local communities and charities quickly and easily, with the added benefit that all outbound packaging is reused for the charity returns.”
As worries about environmental impact of returns and social justice increases, consumers are slowly shifting their priorities and looking for more sustainable options when buying and returning items online. The resale market is expected to grow by 69% from 2019 to 2021.
Monika Wiela, CEO and founder at Give Back Box, said: “The partnership will make it even easier for customers to make charitable donations and will no doubt provide our participating charities with high-quality and highly sought-after clothing.”
