FedEx has announced that most of its TNT services are now available again, after an IT virus attack on the company’s information systems.
FedEx announced on June 28 that the worldwide operations of its TNT Express subsidiary had been attacked, although it said a data breach did not occur. Whilst the company’s domestic country and regional network services were largely operational they were ‘slowed’ thanks to the virus attack.
The company has now said that all TNT depots, hubs and facilities around the globe are now open and operational and the business is working hard to clear any backlogs. It said “most” TNT services were now available.
“TNT continues to make significant progress in resuming full services and bringing critical systems back online. These remediation efforts are being carried out methodically to ensure the integrity of TNT’s information systems and operations,” the company said in a statement.
“Contingency plans that make use of both FedEx Express and TNT networks will remain in place to minimise impacts to customers, including offering the full range of FedEx Express services as alternatives. Some customers may continue to experience delays in service and access to package information,” it said.
Whilst the company said it could not measure the financial impact of the virus attack currently it warned it could be material.
