Sports and fashion retailer JD Sports has amassed almost one million members of its JD STATUS loyalty programme – only eight months after introducing it.
The JD STATUS app, launched in October 2023, enables customers to gain cashback on purchases. Customers who sign-up for the app will receive 10% cashback on their first purchase and 1% on subsequent purchases.
The “King of Trainers” promised further benefits would be added as the app is developed, and as it approaches the member milestone has announced the latest series of incentives.
Some 400 existing members will receive “special rewards”. One lucky individual per UK store and twenty online shoppers will receive £50 JD Cash in their loyalty wallet – taking a share of a huge £20,000 in JD Cash.
While the one millionth customer will win a prize of £1000 in JD Cash – a celebratory milestone that marks a historic moment for the JD STATUS programme.
Conrad Edkins, omnichannel strategic projects director of JD Sports, said: “Reaching one million customers with JD Status has been an unparalleled journey, symbolising our commitment to enhancing customer experiences and shaping the future of loyalty engagement in the retail industry.
“The rapid growth of JD Status to one million customers underscores that our loyal members are the cornerstone of this remarkable success story for JD.”
JD Sports joined the ‘Leading’ retailers category of the recently published RetailX UK Top500 2024 report. The Leading retailers in this year’s report are adapting quickly to meet the needs of shoppers who may have less disposable income to spend but when they do spend, still expect the convenience to which they have become accustomed.
Fashion dominates the list, represented by retail brands Asos, River Island, Joules, New Look, Uniqlo, Urban Outfitters and Zara, footwear retailer Schuh, and sports and outdoor fashion retailers JD Sports and The North Face.
