Multichannel and ecommerce retailers look to new horizons

This is an archived article - we have removed images and other assets but have left the text unchanged for your reference

In today’s Internet Retailing newsletter, we’re focusing on new horizons. That’s the theme for John Lewis as it moves towards an international online strategy with a new shop at Heathrow, and it also underpins Tesco’s move to launch a wine through social media. We report on Ocado’s half-year results, showing that while sales are up by a commendable 15.6%, profits appear to be some way off, and also cover MailOnline’s move to add affiliate links to its online stories, N Brown Group’s move to invest more in online while scaling back direct mail activity, and report on a new partnership for PayLater.

Webinars

We have a number of upcoming webinars to let you know about today.

Later today we host Sitecore and Blueleaf for a webinar on Personalising the user journey for premium retailers. The event will be held at 2pm, when the speaker will be Rob Smith, strategy director at Blueleaf. More information is available here, and there’s still time to register on the Sitecore Blueleaf webinar page.

On Thursday July 9, Shane Irons of Motorcycle Superstore and Bill Loller, VP of IBM company Mobile Tealeaf, will join us for a webinar on Creating Inspiring Digital Experiences at Motorcycle Superstore. The event will consider how Motorcycle Superstore has committed to providing their customers with an optimal experience. Participants will find out about effective management of online channels, best practice case studies around web analytics and customer experience management, and the impact of online behaviour on the brand. Find out more about the event and register here.

Finally, on Tuesday July 16, SLI Systems bring together Snow + Rock and Javelin Group to discuss SaaS (software as a service): risks and rewards in retail. The event takes place at 11am, when Fraser Davidson, director, technology services, at Javelin Group, and David Kohn, head of multichannel at Snow + Rock, will speak.
